Native Trees and Shrubs
There is no one true definitive list of native tree and shrubs available. For example, some poplars are considered native and others not, same with willow and birch. Not all broadleaved trees in our woodlands are native to Ireland. Species such as sycamore, horse chestnut, beech and lime, to mention but a few are not considered native Irish trees and spread vigorously throughout the woodland.
Below are examples of species commonly found in the project sites and each have their own contribution to make to enhancing the biodiversity and flora and fauna in their woodland habitat.
